As part of its nationwide investment in its parcel locker network, Deutsche Post is to install three of its Packstation parcel lockers at Burger King restaurants.

The first of these has 171 doors and is 10 meters long, and is in the Burger King outlet in Gütersloh. This large parcel locker is intended to be in reach of many of the restaurant’s local customers.

The next two co-branded parcel lockers are to be in Stadthagen and Hameln.

Burger King says that the chosen locations are in busy neighbourhoods and on streets where commuters pass by. There are plans to extend the network, with 750 restaurants in Germany alone.

By 2023, Deutsche Post has plans to expand its Packstation parcel locker network to more than 15,000 locations across Germany. There are currently 10,000 of these with a capacity of more than 900,000 parcels at any one time.

Parcel lockers are widely seen as a sustainable delivery option by carriers who have zero missed deliveries using them and don’t have to do the same mileage per parcel as with home delivery.
