New year, new consumer retail resolutions

More than half, 66%, of US consumers are making a retail resolution this year to change their shopping habits.

The change could be undertaking a more thoughtful approach (33%) to taking more time, according to the annual Emarsys unPredictions report. A fifth of shoppers aim to shop more ethically in 2022.

The study of 2,000 Americans also revealed 21% want to buy less often to avoid overconsumption this year, with an additional 19% looking to invest in higher-quality items that last longer.

When it comes to how consumers are changing their shopping habits in 2022, the main priority is a more considered purchasing process, according to a press release on the report findings.
