Following the debut of NFT support on Instagram in May, Meta has launched digital collectibles support on Facebook with select content creators.
The slow rollout was confirmed by a spokesperson speaking to TechCrunch who said that Facebook will allow a select group of creators in the United States to post-digital collectibles on Facebook.
The feature will allow people to display NFTs on their profiles under a new tab, and, like Instagram, the art will have a “digital collectibles” label.
The limited launch of NFTs comes after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said last month that the social media giant would test NFT support on Facebook. The sharing of these across both platforms is not yet available.
Meta product manager Navdeep Singh shared screenshots in a Twitter post showing that NFTs can be posted on a timeline and that clicking on them will reveal details including the collection and its creator.
“We’ll also test NFTs in Instagram Stories with SparkAR soon,” Zuckerberg said in a post last month.
