Walmart has launched Be Your Own Model, an in-store fitting experience for online shoppers.

Consumers use their own photo to visualize how a clothing item will look on them and uses a gamification approach to drive customer engagement.

“We are continuing to make bold moves to establish Walmart as a destination for fashion. It started with work over the last few years to expand our assortment of quality, on-trend and accessible apparel and accessories. More recently, it includes prioritizing the creation and introduction of innovative shopping experiences that help customers discover the assortment and enable new and existing customers to shop with confidence,” Denise Incandela, EVP, apparel and private brands, Walmart U.S., wrote in a blog post.

Earlier this year, Walmart launched the first implementation of the technology Choose My Model.

The technology is available on more than 270,000 items across Walmart’s portfolio of brands and some items on the Walmart Marketplace.

If an item is enabled for virtual try-on, customers will see the “Try It On” button on the item page and have the option to view clothing on themselves (Be Your Own Model) or another model (Choose My Model).

To use the Be Your Own Model feature, the customer will be prompted to take a picture of themselves within the Walmart iOS app. Once an image is saved, the customer will be able to view themselves as the model each time they use the virtual try-on experience.
